It is with deep regret the Pesotum Fire Department announces the death of Chief Calvin Woodworth.

PESOTUM – Calvin Woodworth, 62, of Pesotum passed away at 6:10 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2007, at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Freese Funeral Home, 407 N. Bourne, Tolono, with the Rev. Kathy Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Davis Cemetery, Pesotum. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Woodworth was born Dec. 2, 1944, in Champaign, a son to Joseph and Erma O'Bryan Woodworth. He married Joyce Ferrell on Aug. 12, 1967, in Parkville. She survives. Also surviving is his mother of Pesotum; a son, Brent Woodworth of Pesotum; and a daughter, Callie (Jonathon) Montgomery of Urbana. There are also three grandchildren, Brandon Woodworth and Nathan and Lucas Montgomery; and two brothers, Kenneth Woodworth of Champaign and Gary Woodworth of Tuscola. He was preceded in death by his father.

Calvin was a member of Pesotum Volunteer Fire Department for 38 years, 29 of which he served as chief. He also was a member of Pesotum ESDA for 38 years and village water and maintenance superintendent since 1989. He was employed at Eisner warehouse from 1970 to 1989, and before that, he was employed at Cler's Marathon Station in Pesotum from 1963 to 1970. He was also a member of Parkville United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
